Founder of Akshara Charitable Trust. Rahul Gowda N.A personally drafted the Trust Deed and executed it on 6th March 2020 in Bangalore, at age 27, contributing the Trust's initial corpus. As Managing Trustee, he acts as the Board's chief executive officer — authorised to open and operate local bank accounts individually, borrow on the Trust's behalf, appoint up to six additional trustees, and sign official correspondence.

A founding member of the governing board, resident at the Trust's registered address. Foreign-transaction bank accounts require her joint signature alongside the Managing Trustee's.

How the Board of Trustees works

Board Size

Managed by a Board of Trustees with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 9 trustees.

Appointments

The Managing Trustee can appoint up to 6 additional trustees, each serving a renewable 3-year tenure.

Meetings & Quorum

The Board meets at least once every 3 months. Quorum is 2 trustees or 60% of members, whichever is greater; decisions pass by simple majority.

Notice & Circulation

Meetings require one week's advance notice. Resolutions can also be passed by circulation, with two-thirds of trustees consenting in writing.

Correspondence

All official correspondence is signed by the Managing Trustee or an authorised signatory acting on the Board's behalf.

Banking Authority

The Managing Trustee operates local accounts individually; foreign-contribution accounts need a joint signature with the second founder trustee.

Accountability

When a trustee ceases to hold office

The Trust Deed sets out clear conditions under which a trustee's position ends, and how the resulting vacancy is filled.

Death or Resignation

A trustee's office ends on death or voluntary resignation.

Insolvency

Office ends if a trustee is declared insolvent by a court.

Conviction

Office ends on conviction for an offence involving moral turpitude.

Acting Against the Trust

Office ends if a trustee acts in a manner prejudicial to the Trust's interests.

Vacancies arising from any of the above are filled by nomination from the Trust's remaining trustee members.
